Magician FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Who is David Willmott
David is a well-known magician and is based in the south-west of the country, but performing all over the UK and abroad. He performs at social and corporate events – everything from private dinner parties and weddings through to corporate functions.
What sort of things does he do
David will perform sleight-of-hand magic for you using items such as playing cards, coins, mobile phones and even with objects borrowed from your guests. The items will vanish and reappear in astonishing ways even though you keep your eyes are almost burning his hands! He also performs amazing acts of mind reading and mind control which leave you with no doubt that he has seen into your deepest thoughts!
What can he do for you
David can keep you and your guests entertained. This can be especially important and useful in order to break the ice at parties, to get people talking and to entertain them at their table.
Most of all he provides you and your guests with an unusual and unforgettable experience which convinces your guests that you have thoughtfully catered for their needs by providing such a professional and well-rounded event.
Does he perform Children’s magic
No, David only performs sophisticated magic, that is, magic for grown-ups. If you are looking for someone to entertain children then Dave will be happy to give you the details of someone who will be able to cater for youngsters in your area. That being said, if there are going to be children at the event he will make sure that there is some magic in the performance that they can appreciate.
But how can we tell if the act is going to be any good
Take a good look through the web site and you will see many photographs of David performing live. They capture the delight, amazement and enjoyment of the spectators and satisfied clients.
There are also 100s of references on the site from satisfied clients! You will see references from corporate clients and other bookers in addition to wedding clients. You’ll see that the references and testimonials from both private and corporate clients show that that they have been delighted with having chosen David to perform at their event.
Is he insured
For your peace of mind, David carries Public Liability Insurance up to £10 million, which means that his performance is guaranteed against accidents and damage. While there is that safeguard, David is naturally very careful anyway in his performances, and all borrowed items are treated with respect. He does not use dangerous items or procedures during the performance.
Can we meet you before deciding to book your services
Generally, this is not practical for him or for you. David is normally only available during the working weekday, being out performing in the evening and at weekends. As most clients are at work during that time it is difficult to arrange meetings.
Also, while he is happy to complete a several hundred mile round-trip to perform at your event, it is not really feasible to do so for a quick conversation when most, if not all, points can be handled by telephone. Please give him a call or drop him an email with any questions you might have.
Despite your excellent reputation is our venue too far away
David is happy to travel to your location, wherever it may be – nationally or internationally. David wants to share his magic and make your event distinctive – distance is no object for him.
How much does it cost to hire David
No two events are the same. Rather than quoting vague prices here he would prefer that you get in touch with the details of your event. He can then recommend one or two options that will work best for you and then be able to quote you an exact fee. And the fee will be exact – no VAT, no hidden extras, no hidden clauses. The fee he quotes you will be the fee he will charge.
How far in advance do we need to book
David has bookings several months in advance, with Saturdays, Christmas and the summer months being the most popular. These tend to get snapped up very quickly.
If you think how long it takes to book other key aspects for your event (the venue, the musicians, caterers and so on) then you will have some idea of the timescale that Dave works towards. As with a wedding, say, it is not uncommon to have to book entertainers 6 to 9 months in advance (and sometimes even longer).
That said, even if your event is short notice it is always worth a quick phone call just to see if he has a cancellation for that date.
Do I need to pay a deposit
Yes, a non-refundable deposit of £75 should be returned with the agreement.
What do I need to do next
Send an email or phone and discuss your specific requirements with David. If he is not immediately available he will contact you as soon as possible after he gets back from astonishing someone.
